Francamente ho perso il filo; quando dici "Ho provato" cosa hai fatto esattamente?

Comunque se si tratta di recuperare SOLO la posta:
* fino alla versione 102 puoi usare questa guida -> https://support.mozilla.org/it/questions/1378215#answer-1508370
* per le versioni successive segui questa -> https://www.howtogeek.com/709718/how-to-open-an-mbox-file-in-mozilla-thunderbird/
(in sostanza crei un account fittizio e poi gli dici di usare come cartella quella che contiene i tuoi file mbox di archivio).

Il metodo che mi hai indicato non ha funzionato, ho provato solo una volta (per mancanza di tempo).
Successivamente ho provato su un PC pulito ed ho usato l'opzione "IMPORT".
Ha funzionato con un paio di archivi ma per uno non ha funzionato.
E' uscita la schermata allegata, sai come si accede alla console per leggere gli errori?

oppure
Tasto menu > Strumenti di sviluppo > Console degli errori

Tuttavia, si tratta di cose potresti tranquillamente trovare da solo con una ricerca su internet o anche solo sfogliando i menù di Thunderbird. Tu avrai poco tempo, ma non per questo dovresti abusare di quello degli altri.

Oggettivamente non ci ho nemmeno pensato, avrei risparmiato tempo e un rimprovero.

Cercando ulteriormente negli armadi ho scovato un CD con la base messaggi ancora del tutto integra.
Ho scaricato la vers. 78 (l'ultima) valida nel 2021 ed ho sostituito il file profile.ini (che avevo conservato nel backup), in modo che puntasse ai vecchi archivi, in .thunderbird  e funziona!
Ho recuperato tutti i messaggi!
